DG NMST suggested to use energy efficient technology
65 trainee officers and faculty members of Dhaka Power Distribution Company Limited (DPDC) visited the National Museum of Science and Technology- NMST on Monday. On this occasion, a seminar, open discussion and science exhibition on 'What citizens can do to prevent electrical accidents' was organized at the Museum.
In the seminar, Director General of the National Museum of Science and Technology Mohammad Munir Chowdhury said, "The salaries and benefits of the officials of electricity companies including DPDC and DESCO are very high, in this context the concerned should be free from corruption. Power companies should be built with good governance and perform their duties with integrity and efficiency. Scientific innovation and technology should prevent electrical accidents and theft of electricity and increase the quality of customer service. Many mills, factories and commercial establishments are stealing electricity by tactics, which should be strictly suppressed.
Emphasizing the use of high-quality energy-efficient technology in the use of electrical equipment, he also said that transformers should be maintained regularly. Electricity officials should conduct regular area inspection and enforcement activities to prevent many electrical accidents due to illegal connection of electricity.”
Suklan Bachar, Senior Curator of National Museum of Science and Technology, presented the keynote at the seminar. Superintending Engineer of DPDC Md. Mohiul Alam and Deputy Director of Science Museum A. J. M. Salahuddin Nagri also spoke in the seminar.
The speakers emphasized citizen awareness to ensure electrical safety and avoid electrical accidents and emphasized avoiding power consumption in excess of permissible load.
